IMPACT News and Updates

IMPACT has successfully completed numerous projects to bring a positive change in the lives of the less fortunate.

2024

Post-Office Cleanup

Sometimes, small projects can have big impacts! IMPACT organized a team to clean up the Bristow Post Office. THis was IMPACT's second year of carrying out this project. Volunteers spent their afternoon picking up trash, and making the post office a nicer place to be for visitors and workers alike. In the photos, you can see IMPACT's Outreach Director, Saifullah Usufzai, and Founder, Abdullah Usufzai, working with their family to make the Bristow Post Office a nicer place to be. Putting boots on the ground and working locally is an our way of giving back to the community. 

PCRF Fundraiser

Women, children, and innocent civillians have been among the most persecuted in the genocide against Palestinians. As the sadistic destruction of Palestine continued, IMPACT raised funds to aid Palestinian children and civillians. An online fundraiser was held to raise funds for the Palestinian Children Relief Foundation, or PCRF. It is sad and disgusting that the murder of children has become acceptable in this bloody war. IMPACT worked online and with its international audience to raise funds for PCRF, to aid however possible in the continued onslaught of Palestinians. 

Makkah, Madinah Tour

Abdullah Usufzai and Saifullah Usufzai, President and Director of Outreach at IMPACT, were fortunate enough to visit Makkah and Madinah. During their trip, they were able to capture footage of Riyadh-ul-Jannah in Madinah, the opening of the umbrellas in Madinah, and the Fajr prayer. This was a spiritually uplifitng and reinvigorating experience. IMPACT created footage and shared these clips to their social media platforms in an effort to boost education and outreach about Islam. 

Ramadan Awareness

Knowledge about Ramadan is scarce in the Western World. In an effort to boost an understanding of Ramadan and what the holy month entails for Muslims, IMPACT released a number of posts and infographics sharing knowledge on what makes Ramadan so special for Muslims. These posts and inforgraphics were intended to increase outreach and education, in an effort to fight Islamaphobia and negative narratives about Islam.


2023

October 7th

IMPACT was among the first organizations anywhere to call for support of Palestinians in Gaza after October 7th. To billions across the world, October 7th signifies an ongoing struggle for freedom, justice, adn humanity. IMPACT is firm in its missions to provide education, resources, and outreach. October 7th has resulted in the genocide of Palestinians, and much of the world has been complicit. History will remember the genocide of Palestinians as one of humanity's darkest and most shameful times. IMPACT is playing its part to grow support and aid the Palestinians in their struggle for freedom and justice. 

Holidays and Islamic Events

Throughout the year, IMPACT celebrated various American holidays and Islamic Events. These included reminders of the status of mothers in Islam, an informative post on the day of Arafah, Eid Mubarak wishes, and a celebration of Memorial Day. These posts by IMPACT show outreach, and IMPACT's dedication to the wellness of its community, both local and global. These posts were spearheaded in part by IMPACT's Outreach Director, Saifullah Usufzai. 

Eid Goody Bags

Eid-al-Fitr marks the end of the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan. IMPACT's Outreach Director was engaging in outreach, handing out goody bags to our Brothers and Sisters at Manassas Mosque. The purpose of Eid Al Fitr is to celebrate the month of fasting in Ramadan. Muslims spend time with friends and family, dress their best, and celebrate a month well spent during Ramadan. In the festive spirit, Saifullah Usufzai of IMPACT prepared goody bags to hand out at Manassas Mosque. 

Attack on Al Aqsa

During the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan, Israeli forces launched an attack on Masjid Al Aqsa in Gaza. Masjid Al Aqsa is one of the most holy sites in the world for Muslims, and the heinousness of this act is compounded by the fact that the attack was conducted during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. IMPACT worked to raise awareness, 

2022

Stay Safe, NYC

New York City is one of the most densely populated, bustling parts of our country. With the spread of the Omicron Variant, IMPACT was quick to raise awareness about vaccination and COVID-19 testing campaigns in New York City. Many people are not aware of the resources available to them to help keep themselves and their loved ones safe against COVID-19. This project was carried out in part by IMPACT's Northeast US Chapter. 

Omicron Variant

The Omicron Variant was first reported to the WHO in late 2021, and quickly spread to become the predominant COVID-19 variant circulating around the world. With a resurgence in morbidity and fatality, IMPACT was quick to raise awareness for the Omicron variant. Masking up, vaccinating, and maintaining physical distance continued to be the best methods of preventing infection. 

2021

Park Cleanup 

Small actions can have the biggest impact. IMPACT's founder Abdullah Usufzai helped organize a park cleanup at Greenbriar Park in Fairfax, VA. IMPACT's founder was able to put together a team of volunteers to assist with the park cleanup. Beautifying our public spaces is an important service to our community, and helps make the outdoors just that much better.

COVID-19 Booster Shots

The Pandemic has been one of IMPACT's primary focuses since its very early stages in Winter of 2019. With developments in vaccinations against the COVID-19 virus, the United States has begun offering booster shots to recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccines. IMPACT shared infographics and resources to assist with making booster shots more accessible. This project upholds IMPACT's goals of increasing outreach and providing education and resources.

COVID-19 Vaccines

Building off of IMPACT's previous projects on the pandemic, the team at IMPACT is providing resources to decrease vaccine hesitancy. Vaccines remain the best safeguard against the virus, and the sooner we can return to normal as more people vaccinate. IMPACT shared articles and publications to decrease vaccine hesitancy to its social media audience. This project upholds IMPACT's goals of increasing outreach and providing education and resources.

Educating on Ramadan

Many misconceptions surround the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The most effective way to clear up these misconceptions is to engage in constructive and respectful dialogue. IMPACT did just that by sharing information and answering questions for its follower base as to what the holy month of Ramadan symbolizes and how it is celebrated and practiced. This project supports IMPACT's goals of education and outreach in an effort to make our communities stronger, more inclusive places.

2020

COVID-19 Resources

With widespread misinformation and conflicting views on the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at IMPACT provided bipartisan and accurate information to its global followers. Misinformation on the pandemic is widespread and worldwide, and therefore this project had a global focus. IMPACT's followers appreciated the frequent and accurate news updates, bulletins, and public service announcements shared on its social media.

Beirut Port Explosion

After the deadly and brutal port explosion in Beirut, the team at IMPACT provided its followers ways to help out and donate to the rebuilding of Beirut. Fundraisers, news articles, and other helpful links were shared and distributed throughout IMPACT's platforms. Thankfully, the state of the people of Beirut is continuously improving with the help of the global community.

World Food Program USA

An extremely sad state engulfs the Yemeni people due to their ongoing humanitarian crisis. Via an online fundraiser, IMPACT aims to educate and unify people from all different walks of life to provide resources  in an effort to combat this humanitarian crisis.

Haymarket Regional Food Pantry

Charity begins at home. In the suburbs of Washington DC, focusing its efforts locally, IMPACT led a fundraiser to both raise money and resources and educate others about food insecurity. The COVID-19 pandemic led to a record amount of unemployment and poverty, thus making a fundraiser for the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry essential to the local community. 

 2019

Karachi, Pakistan

Karachi, Pakistan is one of the most densely populated cities on earth that is home to people from all different walks of life. IMPACT's president Abdullah Usufzai traveled to Karachi, Pakistan to provide food, funds, and resources to locals in need. Local soup kitchens and orphanages were visited and charity funds collected in the US were distributed. Karachi, Pakistan has a sizable population living under the poverty line due to a various host of problems.

Istanbul, Turkey

As part of it's International Projects initiative, the founder of Impact International (Abdullah Usufzai), worked to help the local food pantries in the ancient city of Istanbul, Turkey. This project upheld IMPACT's mission to provide resources to communities that are most vulnerable. IMPACT's goal is to provide for individuals worldwide without confining itself, and this International inaugural project in Turkey made that a success.
